Louise made some tremendous saves in the first half to keep the score
down to 15!
Well done to all the girls for their efforts and turning up so early for
an away game on such a miserable morning weatherwise.

After half term training is due to take place from 5.30 to 6.30pm on the
floodlit outside pitch at Christleton Sports Centre
Although still without a league win this season the girls put in their
best first half performance so far. There were chances at both ends but
great defensive work and a very confident display from Zoe in goal meant
the Birkenhead Youth girls failed to score against us in a really
competitive first half. In fact good efforts at the other end from
Charlotte and Emily brought some great saves from the Birkenhead goalie
to deny Waverton a half time lead.
The second half produced some more good passing football but two well
taken goals from Birkenhead knocked our girls' confidence. There were
chances to get back in the game with the Birkenhead goalie producing
some fine saves to deny Waverton a goal. Right at the death Birkenhead
scored a third to make the final score Birkenhead 3 Waverton 0.
Their coach gave Melissa player of the game but special mention must
also be given to Hannah in defence and Zoe in goal. Well done to all the
girls - it's only a matter of time girls before you record your first
win.
Greenleas 4 Waverton 0
A disappointing scoreline for the girls who started the game very
brightly with two promising attacking moves in the first five minutes.
We had a full squad available with the maximum five subs allowed, which
included some of the Year 10 girls making their debut appearances.
After 10 minutes Greenleas scored a well worked goal to make it 1-0 to
the home side. Two further goals followed to make it 3-0 at half time.
The second half saw a rotation of players allowing everyone to get
involved with many good passing moves which nearly ended up with a goal.
A great 15 yard shot from Emily which looked goalbound all the way hit
the underside of the crossbar only to be cleared off the line by the
Greenleas defence. A goal at this point would have put Waverton right
back in the game. Unfortunately this was followed by another breakaway
move from Greenleas resulting in their fourth and final goal of the
game.
The girls worked hard but the dream of Cup glory has gone for this year
allowing the girls to concentrate on winning the league instead!!
Well done to all the girls for their efforts again and to the parents
for thier support and help with transport.
There is training this Wednesday at Waverton field at 6pm.
