Dear Team and Supporters,
Wirral Council has closed all of the football pitches this coming weekend so you game is cancelled.
Have a good weekend
Dear Team and Supporters,
We are down to play Delta Colts at the Delph at 11am on the 4th Dec!
This is highly unlikely to be on in the present climate. David will confirm the postponement once he gets official confirmation from the opposition. I would get the sledge out instead.
This would have been our last fixture of the year....so a mid-winter break is yours!
A decision about training on the 8th and 15th Dec will be made next week...watch this space.
Dear Team and Supporters,
Training is cancelled this week due to the severe weather we are experiencing. The weather is set to stay for quite some time so please keep an eye on the website. This weekend’s games are also in doubt.
The fixtures for December will also be posted shortly.
Watch this space.
Dear Team and Supporters
The game has been called off tomorrow.
Training as usual next wed 6-7pm Old Hall
Team and Supporters,
No training tonight but there is a match this coming Saturday at home to Greenleas. The weather forecast says heavy frosts so there will be a pitch inspection on Friday early evening. If you want a lie in then I suggest you take a quick look at the website last thing Friday evening. I will post a note if the game has to be postponed. If there is no note then assume its on for a kick off at 9.30am. Please make sure you are there at least 30mins beforehand. In cold weather it is more important than ever to warm up properly.
Could we also ask supporters for help with putting nets up. This work starts at 8.30am.
Good luck
Dear team and supporters,
Training at Old Hall Health Club will be from 6pm til 7pm on Wednesday. Robbie, Mike Worden (U14’s coach) and Paul Bowman (U12’s Coach) have organised a joint training session at the same venue this coming Saturday 10am-11am. There is a nominal charge to cover the cost of the pitch (approx £2) Can you all please try to make it. If you aren’t able to come please can you let David know as soon as poss.
Many thanks
Dear Team and Supporters,
You did very well again last Saturday. Your first half performance was as good as any you have given this season. In the second half you had to do a huge amount of chasing and it was understandable that you ran out of steam at the end.
If possible could you try to get to games at least 30mins before KO as it is really important for you to warm up and do your stretches before kicking a ball. Next game is away at Irby. Directions to follow.
For home games can we ask parent helpers to be there for 8.45am to help set up the goals etc.
Training will now be 6pm to 7pm at Old Hall Sports Club. Please ensure training fees are passed on to David Harker as soon as possible.
Thanks

Dear Team and Supporters,
Hopefully a well earned rest for you all this coming weekend. A chance for a few injuries to heal and also a chance to catch our breaths after last weekend!
I think the important thing to focus on now is the future fixtures....but also reflect on the fact that you were forced to play with one less player throughout the whole of that match.....what was all that about?!
I think it is safe to say that you positive attitude and indefatigable spirit shone through....particularly in the second half....you’ve got to enjoy yourselves too. There are also lots of things to work hard on with Robbie....but it is clear to all of us who come to watch you are all developing as players.
The next few fixtures coming up are ones you will be able to compete in. These are teams you have either beaten in the past or run very close and should do so again.
As you know numbers are down so Robbie and David are doing their best to recruit some additions to the squad.....it’s up to you guys too! If you have friends or friends of friends who might want to play some football then do your best to get them along to training.
Future fixtures-
Saturday 9th no fixture
Saturday 16th home to Delta Colts ko 9.30am
Saturday 23rd (First weekend of the half term break) away to Greenleas ko 9.30am
Saturday 30th (Second week of half term break) home to Upton ko 9.30am
Training as usual until you hear otherwise. If you are likely to miss any of the above fixtures then could you let Robbie or David know asap.
Good luck
Wednesday 29th September
Dear parents and girls,
The October fixtures are as follows:
Saturday 2nd away to Wallasey Wanderers Whites ko 12.30pm at the Delph
Saturday 9th no fixture
Saturday 16th home to Delta Colts ko 9.30am
Saturday 23rd (First weekend of the half term break) away to Greenleas ko 9.30am
Saturday 30th (Second week of half term break) home to Upton ko 9.30am
With a small squad of just 9 it is important that all the girls show regular commitment for all the fixtures.
If you are unable to play in a game due to illness or being away for the weekend please let me know asap, other than that we expect all of you to be available for all the games.
Despite losing the first three games you have worked really hard showing great promise individually and collectively and in some of the games – particularly against Upton away deserved to get more out of the game. Keep coming to training and being available for the matches and you will get victories as you are good enough- sometimes you just have to believe in yourselves a bit more and encourage each other as a team
From Wednesday 3rd November we will be holding training on an astro turf pitch at the Old Hall Leisure Club. I will need to ask you to contribute towards the costs which initially will be £25 per girl – about £3 per session. If you wish to pay in cash that is fine or a cheque made payable to ‘D Harker,’ as I will be paying the hire cost s myself in advance. If you could let me have the money by Wednesday 20th October please – if you have any problem with this please contact me in confidence.
Some of the girls have been asking about personalised training tops – I will make some inquiries at the club and let the girls know the costs asap.
Thank you to everyone who helped with setting up and dismantling the goals and setting up the pitch on Saturday- we couldn’t do it without your help and it is very much appreciated.
Any problems please do not hesitate to phone me
David Harker
Dear Team and Supporters,
Saturday 11th September Waverton 3 v Irby 9 Well done on a great performance against a very good Irby team - one of the best in the league. You should all be very proud of youselves - individually and collectively you show great potential. MOM was Laura Croft
Saturday 18th September Upton 5 v Waverton 0 The girls got off to a slow start and allowed Upton too much room in the first half going in a disappointing 3 - 0 down at half time.
Following a tough team talk from Robbie at half time Waverton played some of the best passing football of the game totally dominating the first 20 minutes of the second half. Had it not been for some magnificent defending from Upton's defenders the girls would have scored on numerous occasions. Unfortunately two break away goals in the last five minutes gave Upton a flattering 5 nil final scoreline. The girls deserved much more out of a fantastic second half display. MOM was Nicola Jones with a tremendous display from Ellie Mageean
Next game at home to Wallasey Wanderers Reds on Saturday 25th September KO at 9.30am - girls to be there for 9.10am and help with setting up goals at 8.45am would be very muc appreciated.
goal scoring opportunities. The final score was 8 nil to Irby. Best bits
for Waverton were, in the frst half a great run by Hannah who got the
ball to Ellen who had a great shot which just brushed the wrong side of
the post. In the second half Ellen saw a shot hit the post, Adele made a
good run whilst at the other end mel made a great save to keep Irby out.
Ashley then had a great shot saved by the keeper and again at the other
end Louise made a good save to deny Irby again. A further two good
efforts form Emily just went wide of the post. We only lost the second
half by three goals and with a little more luck could have scored 5 or
6!
A great team effort again girls against a top side.
You said you would prefer 6 – 7pm on Wednesdays starting 14th April (at Waverton) – please bring £2. Thank you
Next fixture is at home on Saturday 27th March v Greenleas Celtic KO 9.30am
April fixtures are:
Saturday 3rd - Easter Saturday - no fixture
Saturday 10th away to Irby at Irby Mill 1 KO 12.30pm
Saturday 17th and 24th - no fixtures as Robbie is away on refresher
training courses for Tranmere FC
MATCH REPORT:
Ellesmere Port U16s 7 v Waverton U16s 2 on Saturday 13th March 2010
Without doubt the best performance of the season - I know I have said
that in recent games but this one tops the lot! Yes I know we lost 7-2
but sometimes it's all about how you lose....
The first five minutes saw a lot of Waverton pressure but again we were
caught on the break with Ellesmere Port opening the scoring against the
run of play which was soon increased to 3-0. A period of nice passing
interplay from the Waverton girls showed that they had not given up and
were unlucky not to score. There was a lovely piece of silky fotwork
from Kimmie on the wing, beating a player with a shimmy and a feint
before releasing the ball down the wing to give us another opportunity
to score. Unfortunately that was the last we saw of Kimmie's silky
skills as she had to come off with a blistered ankel and damaged thumb.
A great save from Mel in goal gave us hope until Ellesmere Port rattled
in another three to make it 6-0 at half time to the home side.
Following a Morinhio like team talk by Robbie at half time the girls
played some of the best football of the season. The crowd by now had
swelled to a record nine for the travelling Waverton girls for this
local derby and some of the football now being played really got the
away fans going, getting right behind the girls. Some lovely passing
football ended with Ellen shooting low and hard into the bottom left
hand corner for her debut goal to make it 6-1. The fightback had begun!
The Ellesmere Port girls could not get out of their own half as wave
after wave of Waverton pressure continued on their goal, with a great
effort from Ashley "Tosh" Johnson just going wide - Tosh was on fire in
the second half chasing after everything.
Then the well deserved second goal came when great persistance from
Ellen just outside their penalty box carved a chance for Tosh who put it
away clinically. The score was now 6-2 or should I say 2-0 as the away
fans were chanting "We want three!"
Another goal came right at the end but unfortunately it was for
Ellesmere Port! The final score was 7-2 to the home team but as we told
the girls after the game, we won the second half 2-1; a first for the
girls and a great achievement by them all.
Well done to all the girls - we have had a second half victory the full
game one is just around the corner!!

On a cold, wet and particularly miserable February day at the Delph 8
gallant girls turned up to face top of the table opposition who had an
impressive squad of 13 players waiting for us. The pitch had suffered
badly following the two previous successive matches being played on it
and conditions were not ideal for the free flowing football our girls
are used to!
In short, six nil down at half time and lost twelve nil - but now for
the good bits!!.....
Eight of the squad turned up to play in foul conditions making
the long journey down the M53
All the girls played with outstanding effort, never giving up and
they kept going right to the final whistle
Could have scored four or five goals had it not been for a man
(girl) of the match performance fron the Wallasey Wanderers goalie
All the girls were able to smile and laugh about it after the
game
Played with great sportsmanship and fairness throughout the game
We will win agame before the end of the season - it's only a matter of
time girls when all your efforts will be rewarded
Next game home to Birkenhead Youth Ladies at home on Saturday 6th March
KO 11am - training on Monday at 6pm as usual
Sat 6th - home to Birkenhead Youth Ladies KO 9.30am - may need to change this one to 11am
Sat 13th - away to E/Port U16s at Whitby Social Club KO 9.30am
Sat 20th - home to Greenleas Celtic KO 9.30am
Sat 27th - no fixture
The next ten minutes saw some of the best football of the season so far
by Waverton with two attacking moves involving great passing football
forcing two corners with attempts on the Ellesmere Port goal.
An unfortunate deflection in the Waverton box made it 4-1, again against
the run of play. Louise playing in goal made some good saves with Ashley
again testing their goalkeeper with a strong run and shot at the other
end. Ellesmere Port scored a fifth just before half time with a great
shot that flew high into the top right hand corner.
Half time Waverton 1 Ellesmere Port 5. Despite the score we saw some of
the best football played by the girls all season.
The second half saw more passing football by the Waverton girls with Mel
in goal making two great saves. An early attack by Waverton saw Louise
pick up the ball just outside the penalty area and go past two players
and get a low shot in to beat the goalie at the near post to narrow the
gap and make it 5 - 2. Despite all the possession and pressure by the
girls Ellesmere Port managed to score another two goals. The next fifteen
minutes saw Waverton keeping Ellesmere Port in their own half putting
them under intense pressure with yet more corners being won and a great
shot from Mel who had come out of goal for the last five minutes.
As Waverton continued to press the game Ellesmere Port scored another
two on the break to make it 9-2.
The final score was Waverton 2 Ellesmere Port 9. In terms of goals we
lost the game but in passing, possession and footballing terms it was a
victory for the girls!
So many positives came out of this game - confidence on the ball, great
passing, team work, never say die attitude, great tackling and even a
few fouls given against us!! Without doubt the best performance of the
season. The Ellesmere Port manager said aftr the game "for 15 minutes in
the second half you put so much pressure on us that we couldn't get out
of our half".
Well done to Louise McWilliams for getting the away coach's MOM award.
Robbie told the girls that he awarded them all MOM for this game - very
proud of all the girls today - well done!
Training on Monday night again, and then next Saturday we are away to
Ellesmere Port Rangers, and if we can play like we did today we could be
looking at our first win of the season. If the girls believe in
themselves there is no reason why they can't get the win that they now
deserve. Well done today girls, you all should be very proud of
yourselves.
Training inside the gym will continue on MONDAY evenings from 6 to 7pm
from 22nd Feb until Easter after which we will be able to resume outside
training on the Waverton field on WEDNESDAYS - times to be agreed later
but probably around 5 or 5.30pm for an hour.
The next U16s games is against Delta Colts on Saturday 30th KO 11am at
the Delph pitch. Please be there for 10.45am
Match report for home game against Delta Rangers on Saturday 23rd
January 2010
After a lehgthy lay off due to the Christmas holidays and the severe
weather conditions at the start of the year this was always going to be
a tough fixtre against a team sitting at the top of the table.
All started well with two fantastic reaction saves from Molly in goal
and a wonderful individual run by Mel which saw her pass five Delta
players in a 60 yard run only to be denied by a great interception in
the Delta Rangers box. However, despite some good moments the strength of
the Delta team began to show after 15 minutes and by half time they were
leading by 8 goals.
Despite this healthy lead the girls didn't give up and Izzie England
pushing forward in the second half saw two efforts go just wide
following some good build up work and passing moves.
The final score was 18 nil to Delta Rangers.
Keep going girls - we will get our first win soon, I'm sure of it
Sat 16th - away to Greenleas Celtic KO 11am at the Delph pitch 2
Sat 23rd - home to Delta Rangers KO 9.30am
Sat 30th - away to Delta Colts KO 11am at the Delph pitch 2
Also there is no training this week, the 6th, due to the freezing
weather conditions
